Comments of appreciation

Jaguar Design is honoured to have worked with the following companies, many of whom were on a long, to very long term basis. Some companies link to comments of appreciation from the relevant client.

Burke's Backyard Magazine

“I had the great pleasure of working with Heather in 1999 when I was editor of Burke's Backyard magazine. It is a joint venture between Burke's Backyard and ACP Publishing — a monthly lifestyle magazine. Heather joined our team as a freelance designer, taking on the daunting task of designing an entire issue from her office. The April 1999 issue is a credit to her abilities as art director. She helped us through a time we were short staffed and faced the added complication of using our Macintosh rather than her PC. She coped admirably!

Heather is a very competent designer who works efficiently to a brief and well under very tight deadlines. I was impressed with the ease with which she fitted into our team and our existing style. I recommend her work.

On a personal level I found her an easy-going and cheerful person to work with even with deadlines looming. We have continued to keep in contact. I wish her well in this exciting new venture of website design.”

— Jennifer Stackhouse,
horticultural editor and consultant,
former Editor of Burke's Backyard Magazine

Exportential Pty Ltd

“As Marketing Director of a newly formed export company called Exportential Pty Ltd, I had the pleasure of commissioning and briefing Jaguar Design to undertake design work for a corporate brochure and website in 1998.

From start to finish, the standard of work from Jaguar Design was professional, creative and functional. Under tight time and money constraints, Jaguar Design always delivered on time and within budgetary limits. Furthermore, Heather Armstrong offered useful advice and was a delight to work with. I would highly recommend her for any similar project.”

former Marketing Director, Exportential Pty Ltd

Fairfax Business Media

“Heather Armstrong, through her corporate vehicle, Jaguar Design, was art director on BusinessOnline Australia, and the New Zealand magazine, for 6 months in 2000/2001. She also contributed material and expertise to the Asian edition.

Heather approached the daunting task of art directing a magazine one month after its launch in Australia with the calmness, application, creativity and aplomb that was the hallmark of her style, and that is witness to her professionalism and dedication to the tasks to which she assigns her skills. She worked with me (then editor), the editorial, publishing and sales teams, on a product that has since won industry awards. She liased with Fairfax production staff, printing and pre-press staff in New Zealand, designers in Singapore, briefed illustrators and photographers, and managed a graphics budget.

I cannot recommend Heather to you highly enough — an excellent team player — and would be delighted to be a referee for her at any time.

— Wayne Burns,
Publisher, Fairfax Business Media, February 2001

Mayne Publishing Pty Ltd

“Heather Armstrong of Jaguar Design carried out graphic design duties on The Australian Arbor Age magazine during 1999, and raised the standard of the publication. Supplying fully working Quark templates made our production process faster and more professional. She also created a subscription promotion ad for us, which proved to be successful, and produced many other ads for clients who advertised with us.

Heather is very professional and precise with her work, operating around the clock when necessary, to get the job out on time. It was a shame to lose her. If a vacancy ever comes up in my company for a contract graphic artist I will not hesitate to call Heather.”

— Kurt Quambusch,
Director, Mayne Publishing Pty Ltd

Olivier Recruitment Group

“From a respected referral we commissioned Heather of Jaguar Design, to put together a range of materials to promote our research into e-cruitment best practice in Australia. An A4 book of 350 pages called 'Insite - Win the war for talent', and an interactive PDF of the book was produced for CD, with over 150 links to websites and clickable content and index listing, were designed. Jaguar Design also designed a cover for the CD ROM, an invitation to the launch and a brochure promoting the product, all produced within our deadline.

The outcome was a design across a range of items that was eye catching, comment worthy from our prospective clients and branded coherently, yet creative and attractive. The quality design reflected a quality product and helped justify a highly priced report. It received some very favourable comment.

A good working relationship was developed quickly. A graphic designer that you can rely on and communicate with is a valuable asset not to be underestimated.”

—Bob Olivier,
Director, Olivier Recruitment Group, 2002
